FreighAI vs LSP44

Both companies sell AI agents to businesses that move other people’s freight. Both work above the system you keep your records in. Both say that system should stay.

The difference is what you buy. LSP44 sells infrastructure that large logistics providers build their own products on. FreighAI is a product your team works in. Every email your company receives is read, understood and turned into a task for the right person, with the answer already drafted. Your team approves. Nobody lives in the inbox any more.

Where LSP44 is the better answer, this page says so. Every LSP44 statement here comes from its own published pages, fetched on 3 September 2026.

About LSP44

What LSP44 does well

LSP44 is the AI agent and API infrastructure business for logistics service providers, created when project44 split into two companies in July 2026. Its published material is unusually concrete for a brand this young: ten named agents, six solution areas, a five-layer platform and a carrier network built since 2014. A broker or a 3PL can see exactly what it would be running.

A carrier network FreighAI cannot match

LSP44 publishes more than 280,000 connected carriers, 140 port terminals, 1.5 billion shipments a year and 706 million carrier events a day, built since 2014. If your problem is reaching carriers, benchmarking rates across them and knowing where freight actually is, that reach is a real asset. FreighAI has nothing comparable and does not claim to.

The carrier side of the job, in depth

Tendering loads to road and ocean carriers. Dispatching and securing dock appointments. Onboarding and activating new carriers. Spotting a disruption, classifying it and re-tendering to the next-best carrier. That is the daily work of a brokerage or a 3PL, and FreighAI does none of it.

Infrastructure to build your own product on

LSP44 says a logistics provider wants “infrastructure it can build on: APIs, SDKs, data feeds, and agents that power its own products, under its own brand”. It puts forward-deployed engineers inside the customer’s team through go-live. A provider with its own engineering team gets something FreighAI does not sell.

A written position on conflict of interest

LSP44 states that it never competes with its customers and never resells their data to shippers. It says it holds no freight brokerage authority, no motor carrier authority, no NVOCC licence and no IAC registration, and does not train models serving other providers on your data. Written down plainly, that is worth having.

A genuine alternative

Same layer, different buyer

Both products sit above the system of record. LSP44 puts it plainly on its solutions page: your TMS manages the record, LSP44 executes the work, and it embeds into your existing TMS rather than replacing it. FreighAI says the same thing in its own words. Keep your TMS for the records. FreighAI runs the work around them. So this is a real comparison, not a layer argument. What separates them is who is buying. LSP44’s FAQ names brokers, 3PLs, freight forwarders, carriers, 4PLs and third-party warehouses, and its solutions page speaks to brokerages, 3PLs and enterprise logistics networks. Built for mid-market forwarders of 40–200 people, who have no in-house platform team.

Where the products overlap and differ

Built on the network, or built on the inbox

Both cover rate and quote, booking, shipment status, documents and invoice checking. They arrive at that work from opposite ends of the business.

LSP44 starts at the carrier network. Its agents source carriers, compare rates, tender the load, book it, dispatch it, watch for exceptions and re-tender when something breaks. The work runs from the network towards the shipment, and its own material describes it running without a person starting each step.

FreighAI starts at the other end. It watches every company mailbox, pricing, operations, tracking and accounts, and follows each conversation from start to finish. It writes the reply, creates the task, and puts it in front of the right person in the right department, beside the original conversation. Your team approves. They do not compose, forward, file or chase. The reply goes out in their name.

Who approves

LSP44 describes agents running autonomously, supervised through performance dashboards, agent health monitoring, SLA tracking, audit logs and alerting. That is oversight of the agents. Your team approves every reply before it sends. Neither position is wrong. At the volume of a top-ten provider, work that runs unattended is the whole point. At forty people, the pricer’s name on the quote is the point.

What LSP44’s published material does not describe is reading every company mailbox, or turning a conversation into a task owned by a named person in the right department. A “Customer Communications” agent appears among its platform tiles. What it drafts, and who approves it, is not described in LSP44’s published material, checked September 2026. Ask to see it.

Breadth of the job

LSP44 covers the freight itself, end to end: procurement, tendering, dispatch, appointments, visibility, exceptions, documents and settlement, across road, ocean, rail, air and barge. FreighAI covers the company around the freight: quotation, booking and job orders, tracking replies, partner discovery, invoice reconciliation and payment collection, with the email that starts each of them.

Breadth on its own decides nothing. A brokerage moving truckload freight will find more of its day inside LSP44. A forwarder whose people spend the morning in Outlook will find more of its day inside FreighAI. The honest test is which product covers the hours your team actually loses.

One enquiry, start to finish

What happens to one enquiry in FreighAI

An enquiry arrives. FreighAI reads it, notices the weight is missing and asks for it. It pulls your rate cards, checks the carrier for a live rate, and emails your agents for the lanes you do not hold, then chases them until they reply. It drafts the quote with your margin rules and what that customer paid on that lane last time. Your pricer approves and it goes. It follows up. When the customer pushes back, the counter-offer is already drafted. When the quote is old, it expires. When it is won, the job is created.

Where the rate can be fetched without waiting on a person — a carrier API, a portal read in the background, or your own uploaded rate cards — a priced quote goes out in 10–15 minutes instead of 1–2 hours. That holds for ocean and air just as it does for express; the mode does not change it. Where a lane has to be priced by another agent or over the phone, the wait belongs to whoever is answering — not to the software. FreighAI still writes the RFQ, chases the reply, and turns whatever comes back into a priced, margin-checked quote the moment it lands.

WHERE THE TEAM WORKS

Infrastructure needs engineers. A product needs a person.

LSP44 hands a provider APIs, data feeds and agents to build on. FreighAI hands your coordinator a finished task, beside the conversation it came from, waiting for a yes.

  • Nobody has to build anything
Your people work in FreighAI, not in the inbox.
  • Every department, not only the carrier side
Pricing, operations, tracking and accounts, each conversation followed to the end.
  • The work moves with the thread
Work passes from pricing to operations to accounts with the email and everything it found attached. Nobody forwards it, re-keys it or asks for an update.

The honest answer

Which one you should actually pick

If nobody should ever choose the other product, this page would not be worth reading. Here is where each genuinely wins.

Choose LSP44 if
  • You are a broker, a 3PL or a large logistics provider, and the work is carrier procurement, tendering, dispatch and exception recovery at volume.
  • You have your own engineering team and want APIs, data feeds and agents to build your own product on, under your own brand.
  • Reaching hundreds of thousands of carriers and benchmarking rates across them is the requirement, not reading a customer’s email.
  • Truckload and less-than-truckload freight is most of your business, with dock appointments and carrier onboarding to match.
  • You prefer LSP44’s approach after both suppliers have worked on the same freight. That is a sound product decision, not an oversight.
Choose FreighAI if
  • You run a forwarding business of forty to two hundred people, with nobody free to build on an API.
  • The pain is the inbox. Enquiries, agent replies, where-is-my-cargo, carrier bills and payment chasers, all landing on people.
  • You want each conversation turned into a task for a named person, with the reply written and their approval before it sends.
  • The legwork around a quote is the problem. The missing detail, the agent who goes quiet, the counter-offer, the old price nobody expired.
  • You want the first workflow to run standalone, with the option to work alongside a TMS or ERP later. Keep your TMS for the records. FreighAI runs the work around them.

FreighAI’s central proposition is: Same team. 5x more business. That is the intended value position, not a measured result for every business. The two products are also bought differently, so ask each supplier for terms on the same workflow.

Coexistence

Can FreighAI and LSP44 work together?

In principle yes, because they start at opposite ends. LSP44 works from the carrier network towards the shipment. FreighAI works from the inbox towards the task. A large provider could run LSP44 for procurement and execution, and FreighAI for the email and the hand-offs around it.

In practice most mid-market forwarders will not buy both. LSP44 is sold as infrastructure to build on, and building on it needs engineers you probably do not have. If both are on the table, settle two questions first. Which system owns the quote, and which owns the conversation with the customer. Then define the hand-off before either goes live.

Before you decide

What should you take to both demonstrations?

Bring the same evidence to each supplier:

  • one live email thread from a department mailbox, with its history,
  • a normal enquiry, a difficult one and one with the weight left out,
  • the rate sources you really use, including the lanes you buy from agents,
  • a carrier statement with a line that does not match the booking,
  • the exception that always needs a human decision, and
  • the system that owns the job once it is won.

Ask each supplier what happens when the rate cannot be reached without waiting on a person. A carrier connection or an uploaded rate card is a different thing from an agent who has not replied yet. Any speed comparison that ignores the rate source is misleading.

Then ask the question underneath all of it. Are you buying something to build on, or something your team opens in the morning?

The real choice
Start here

What are you actually buying?

PATH 01InfrastructureYou have engineers and your own platform

APIs, data feeds and agents you build on, running under your own brand.

PATH 02A productYou have forty to two hundred people and no platform team

Your people open FreighAI and approve finished tasks beside the original email.

Two honest paths. One needs engineers and gives you your own branded platform. The other needs a coordinator and gives them finished work to approve.
Questions

Common questions

01

Is LSP44 the same company as project44?

No. LSP44 says the two are separate businesses running on shared infrastructure. project44 sells applications to enterprise shippers. LSP44 sells agent and API infrastructure to logistics service providers. Both run on the same carrier network and data graph.

02

Does LSP44 serve freight forwarders?

Yes, in its own words. Its FAQ names brokers, 3PLs, freight forwarders, carriers, 4PLs and third-party warehouses. Its solutions page speaks to freight brokerages, 3PLs and enterprise logistics networks. Ask what the smallest forwarder running it today looks like.

03

Is FreighAI infrastructure too?

No, and that is the honest difference. FreighAI is an AI-first freight operations platform that runs the daily work of a forwarding company. It reads everything that comes in, does the work behind it, and hands your people finished tasks to approve. It can run on its own or alongside the TMS you already have. Your people work in FreighAI, not in the inbox. There is no platform for you to build, and no engineering team required on your side.

04

Do both keep people in control?

Your team approves every reply before it sends. Your team approves. They do not compose, forward, file or chase. The reply goes out in their name. LSP44 describes agents running autonomously, watched through dashboards, agent health monitoring, SLA tracking, audit logs and alerting. A person approving each customer reply is not described in LSP44’s published material, checked September 2026. Ask both to show the human step and the exception path live.

05

Does FreighAI handle customs the way LSP44’s document agent does?

Not the filing part. Direct customs filing and HS or duty lookup stay in your own system. FreighAI reads the documents on the thread and matches them to the job. LSP44 publishes a document agent covering customs paperwork, hazmat and trade compliance, so compare that area carefully if it is your bottleneck.

06

Which is cheaper, and which is quicker to put in?

This page answers neither. LSP44 publishes no pricing, and its deployment-time statements are not repeated here because the evidence behind them has not been reviewed for this page. We scope the first workflow, integration requirements and implementation plan with your team. Ask both suppliers for terms on the same workflow, the same connections and the same support.

Sources

LSP44’s published outcome percentages, deployment-time statements and customer names are deliberately not repeated, because the evidence behind them has not been reviewed for this page. Its network figures are quoted with attribution, because they are the substance of its strongest advantage over FreighAI. FreighAI claims come from the shared claims register and the signed Infinity Logistics reference of 15 May 2026.

READY WHEN YOU ARE

Bring one real email thread

Take a live thread from last week, with the enquiry, the agent replies, the carrier bill or the chaser behind it. Ask each supplier to follow it to the end and show you who does the work, who approves it, and what your side has to build. That answer decides this comparison faster than any feature list.
