Running Shipmnts? Keep it, or move on.
Keep your TMS for the records. FreighAI runs the work around them.
Shipmnts describes itself as a tech platform for freight forwarders, CHAs, transporters, 4PLs, importers and exporters, covering sales, operations, documentation, finance and compliance in one place. Keep it, and FreighAI takes a different part of the day: the mail from everyone who is not on your platform. Or move on from it, and FreighAI becomes the system your team works in.
Every email your company receives is read, understood and turned into a task for the right person, with the answer already drafted. Your team approves. Nobody lives in the inbox any more.
- 01Two ways in, and this page covers both. Keep Shipmnts and add FreighAI to the mail around it. Or move on from it and let FreighAI be the system your team works in.
- 02Shipmnts holds the record. Its own pages describe an end-to-end freight ERP from inquiry to invoice, with House and Master documentation, Indian customs, GST and TDS, a warehouse and a transport module. If it runs your business, keep it.
- 03Shipmnts and FreighAI answer the same problem in opposite ways, and this page says so first. On its why-shipmnts page Shipmnts writes “Customers on your platform: not in your inbox”, and offers “in-app chat: no email ticketing”. Its bet is to move the conversation off email. FreighAI makes the other bet. FreighAI reads every email, does the work behind it, and hands the right person a finished task to approve. Nobody lives in the inbox any more.
- 04Both can be true in one company, because they aim at different people. The workspace serves whoever logs in. This page is about the agent quoting your lane, the airline's rate desk, the CHA at the far end, and the customer who just replies to the thread.
- 05Shipmnts wins several parts of this outright and the table below says so: one-click HBL, MBL and AWB, Shipping Bill and Bill of Entry work, GST, TDS and GSTR2B, the warehouse and transport. FreighAI adds none of that, and reading an incoming enquiry email into a quotation is not described in Shipmnts’ published material, checked September 2026.
- 06No Shipmnts connector is live and this page implies none. We scope the first workflow, integration requirements and implementation plan with your team. Bring one thread from last week and we will draw the line on it.
What Shipmnts already holds
For a team on Shipmnts, most of the operating record already sits in one place, and its own pages are specific about what that covers. Forwarding describes air and ocean FCL, LCL and inland shipments with milestone updates, House and Master documentation, one-click HBL, MBL and AWB, and e-AWBs sent straight to the airline. Sales describes inquiries, quotations, pipelines and rate comparison. Customs describes Shipping Bill and Bill of Entry management, filing status and Daily Shipment Report dispatch, built for CHAs. Finance describes invoicing from shipment data, vendor invoice matching, bank reconciliation, GST, TDS and GSTR2B, and a P&L. There is a warehouse module, a transport module with E-waybill transmission, and analytics carrying AI-powered recommendations.
That is a lot of ground. It is a reason to draw a careful boundary, not a reason to call the platform thin.
The disagreement worth reading first
Shipmnts also publishes a position on email, and it is the opposite of ours. Its why-shipmnts page says “Customers on your platform: not in your inbox”. It describes a shared workspace for your team and your customer, puts in-app messaging in place of email and WhatsApp chains, and offers “in-app chat: no email ticketing”. The wager is that the conversation belongs on the platform.
It is a fair wager, and this page treats it as one. FreighAI wagers the other way: the mail keeps arriving as it does now, and the work behind it stops being done by hand. What settles the two is who actually logs in. Your customer's shipping coordinator might. The agent quoting your lane will not, nor will the airline's rate desk, the CHA at the far end, or the accounts clerk asking for an invoice copy. They write to you, and somebody opens every message, works out what it needs, finds it, answers and remembers to chase.
So look at last week rather than at a feature list:
- Of everyone who wrote to you last week, how many would ever open a platform to say it?
- How many agent rate replies came back by email, and who chased the ones that never did?
- When a customer replies to an alert instead of opening the workspace, where does that reply land?
Where does the person who needs an answer actually sit?
Shipmnts describes a shared workspace with in-app messaging and chat. This person is already served.
The rate reply, the space confirmation and the Bill of Entry query arrive as email or WhatsApp. A person reads each one.
Shipmnts sends milestone alerts by email, SMS and WhatsApp. The reply lands in a mailbox for somebody to pick up.
What changes for the mail around it
That mail is what FreighAI takes over. It watches every company mailbox, pricing, operations, tracking and accounts, and follows each conversation from start to finish. It works out what each email is and what it needs, then takes the action that message calls for. It writes the reply, creates the task, and puts it in front of the right person in the right department, beside the original conversation. Follow-ups, chasers and reminders happen on their own, on the same conversation.
The email is only the start. The real time goes on what comes after it. Find the rate on the carrier’s site. Check the tracking in another tab. Open the TMS for the job. Look up what you charged this customer last time. Forward it to operations and wait. Chase the agent, or forget to. FreighAI does all of that itself. It pulls your rate cards, checks the carrier, looks up the customer’s history, reads the shipment status, and talks to your TMS or accounting system. It chases what has not come back. It passes the work from pricing to operations to accounts, with the email and everything it found attached. Nobody forwards it. Nobody re-keys it. Nobody asks for an update. Then it puts the finished piece in front of the right person, with the reply already written.
Your people work in FreighAI. Not in the inbox. Not in five browser tabs. Shipmnts keeps the shipment, the documents, the filings and the books.
None of that asks a customer to leave your workspace. What changes is everything that comes back, and everything that never went through it at all.
The answer goes back on their own thread
The agent, the airline and the customer who will not open a portal are answered where they wrote. The reply is drafted against the conversation it belongs to, and one person signs it off.
- Answered where they wroteAnswers “where is my cargo?” on the customer’s own thread, from carrier status, for approval.
- Nobody composes itYour team approves. They do not compose, forward, file or chase. The reply goes out in their name.
- Chasing is not a person's jobFollow-ups, chasers and reminders happen on their own, on the same conversation.

Keep Shipmnts, or move on.
You can keep the system you run today and add FreighAI around it, or move on from it and let FreighAI be your main system. Start with pricing and operations either way, and add the rest when you are ready.
Keep Shipmnts. Add FreighAI around it.
Shipmnts stays the system of record and your customers keep the workspace. FreighAI works the mail from everyone who never logs into it, and hands each thread over as a finished task with a name on it.
- Your shipment record, your documents and your books stay exactly where they are.
- The agent's rate reply and the CHA's query are worked before they reach a desk.
- A reply to a milestone alert stops being somebody's job to notice.
- One person approves each answer and it sends in their name.
- No connector is claimed. What passes between the two is settled in scope.
Move on from Shipmnts. FreighAI becomes your main system.
If the workspace is not where your business actually runs, FreighAI can be the system your team works in. Pricing and operations go first. Shipmnts keeps running until the rest is ready.
- Inquiries and quotations. The enquiry is priced on the thread it arrived on.
- The shipment record. A won quote turns into a job by itself.
- Tracking questions. Whoever writes in is answered where they wrote.
- Vendor and carrier bills, matched airway bill by airway bill before anyone books them.
- Payment chasing, which stops depending on anyone remembering.
- The everyday accounts: what you invoice and what you are owed.
- Customs. FreighAI files nothing, so Shipping Bill and Bill of Entry work stays with your customs team or your broker.
- House and Master documentation, one-click HBL, MBL and AWB, and e-AWBs sent to the airline.
- The warehouse module, unless you run Binsy, the FreighAI warehouse product, which runs together with FreighAI.
- The transport module and E-waybill transmission.
- The shared workspace, if your customers use it.
- GST, TDS and GSTR2B, which stay where your statutory returns are filed.
- Analytics, dashboards and the AI reports Shipmnts produces from its own data.
- Statutory books. Bank reconciliation and the profit and loss stay with your accountant.
- How long has Shipmnts been in?
One you rolled out last year has not had a fair run, so add FreighAI around it. One your team has quietly built workarounds for is a candidate for the second door.
- Do people work in Shipmnts, or in their mail?
Count one week. If the day goes on mail and the platform is where somebody types up the result afterwards, you already know which door you are at.
- What would you give up?
The parts this page hands to Shipmnts: customs work, House and Master documents, the warehouse, transport and the customer workspace. Each needs a home before you move.
- What do the contract and the data allow?
Put two questions to your supplier in writing. When does the agreement renew, and how does your own data come out, in what format? Those answers are theirs, not ours.
On its own, FreighAI runs your enquiries, quotes, jobs, tracking replies, carrier bills, payment follow-ups and your accounts. FreighAI does not file customs declarations. It treats customs as a service provider or agent, and your team adds and updates the filing details by hand.
Which parts of FreighAI would a Shipmnts team use?
Quotation Agent
The enquiry arrives by email or WhatsApp, usually before a quotation exists anywhere. FreighAI spots what is missing in an enquiry and drafts the email asking for it. It emails all your agents for a lane in one go, with the route and charge lines filled in, then chases the ones who do not reply. When the customer pushes back on price, a counter-offer is drafted and waits for approval. Shipmnts keeps the quotation record, the rate comparison and the pipeline. FreighAI works the thread on either side of them.
Booking and Job Orders Agent
A won quote becomes a job on its own, fully filled in. A booking confirmation that lands in operations@ becomes a task for whoever already owns the thread, instead of being typed in a second time. What Shipmnts needs from that job is settled in scope, not assumed here.
Tracking Agent
FreighAI answers “where is my cargo?” on the customer’s own thread, from carrier status, for approval. Shipmnts already pushes milestone alerts out and the workspace serves anyone willing to open it. This is about what comes back: the reply to the alert, and the customer who will never log in.
Invoice Reconciliation
FreighAI reads a carrier bill and matches every airway bill back to its job, checking line by line before it is booked. Shipmnts keeps the invoice, the GST return and the books. Whether an approved result returns to Shipmnts is decided in technical scope, not promised here.
Start with whichever mailbox costs your team the most hours.
What happens to one enquiry
Quotation is the first workflow here, because an enquiry usually arrives as email long before anything exists in Shipmnts.
An enquiry arrives. FreighAI reads it, notices the weight is missing and asks for it. It pulls your rate cards, checks the carrier for a live rate, and emails your agents for the lanes you do not hold, then chases them until they reply. It drafts the quote with your margin rules and what that customer paid on that lane last time. Your pricer approves and it goes. It follows up. When the customer pushes back, the counter-offer is already drafted. When the quote is old, it expires. When it is won, the job is created.
Where the rate can be fetched without waiting on a person — a carrier API, a portal read in the background, or your own uploaded rate cards — a priced quote goes out in 10–15 minutes instead of 1–2 hours. That holds for ocean and air just as it does for express; the mode does not change it. Where a lane has to be priced by another agent or over the phone, the wait belongs to whoever is answering — not to the software. FreighAI still writes the RFQ, chases the reply, and turns whatever comes back into a priced, margin-checked quote the moment it lands.
The scope then decides what approved information belongs in Shipmnts and how it gets there. Nothing here assumes a connection. We scope the first workflow, integration requirements and implementation plan with your team.

What stays in Shipmnts, what FreighAI adds and what must be scoped?
Shipmnts owns the record in most of these rows, and in three of them FreighAI adds nothing at all. That is what an honest coexistence page looks like.

Where FreighAI sits relative to Shipmnts
Shipmnts sits below FreighAI, and that is a compliment rather than a demotion. In its own words it is an end-to-end freight ERP covering operations, documentation and finance from inquiry to invoice. A system of record is built to be kept.
FreighAI sits above it, on the mail, and your mailboxes keep the addresses they have today. FreighAI talks to carriers, portals, your TMS and your accounting system itself. Nobody hops between websites to put an answer together.
If every party you deal with already works inside your Shipmnts workspace, there is little mail left and this page is not for you.
Agent rate replies, enquiries, space confirmations, customs queries and carrier bills land here first.
Reads each thread, finds the rate, chases the agent, drafts the reply and hands a finished task to the right person in the right department.
Sales, operations, documentation, finance and compliance in one place, plus the workspace for customers who use it.
The objections we hear most
“Shipmnts says our customers belong on the platform, not in our inbox. Is this not the opposite?”
It is the opposite, and better said out loud than glossed over. It is a reasonable position for the customers who log in. It does not cover the agent quoting your lane, the airline's rate desk, the CHA at the far end, or the customer who replies to an alert instead of opening a workspace. Those conversations arrive as email whatever your platform says.
“Will this duplicate what we already pay for?”
It could, if the first workflow is chosen carelessly. Shipmnts already holds quotations, rate comparison, pipelines, documents, customs filing and the books. The FreighAI scope has to begin where a person still reads a message and types: the missing detail on an enquiry, the agents to chase, the drafted reply, the bill in an attachment. If Shipmnts handles a workflow well, that is the wrong place to start.
“Shipmnts already has AI. Why would we add more?”
Because the two are pointed at different work, and this page will not pretend the incumbent has none. Shipmnts describes AI-driven sales management, AI-powered insights and recommendations, and Gen AI-generated reports: insight over data you already hold. FreighAI is execution on the mail that has not reached any system yet. Reading an incoming enquiry email into a quotation is not described in Shipmnts’ published material, checked September 2026.
“Do we have to get rid of Shipmnts?”
No. You can keep the system you run today and add FreighAI around it, or move on from it and let FreighAI be your main system. Start with pricing and operations either way, and add the rest when you are ready. Keeping it is the usual answer. Keep your TMS for the records. FreighAI runs the work around them. Moving on is a real option and this page states its limits plainly. On its own, FreighAI runs your enquiries, quotes, jobs, tracking replies, carrier bills, payment follow-ups and your accounts. FreighAI does not file customs declarations. It treats customs as a service provider or agent, and your team adds and updates the filing details by hand. Documents, the warehouse, transport and the customer workspace stay with Shipmnts unless you find them another home.
“How quickly can we go live?”
That depends on the workflow, the access, the sample data and the approval rules. FreighAI publishes no fixed pilot length and no go-live promise. Ask any supplier to answer in writing against your workflow, not against a slide.
Common questions
Can FreighAI be my main system instead of Shipmnts?
Yes, for the work this page describes. On its own, FreighAI runs your enquiries, quotes, jobs, tracking replies, carrier bills, payment follow-ups and your accounts. The rest has to sit somewhere. FreighAI does not file customs declarations. It treats customs as a service provider or agent, and your team adds and updates the filing details by hand. So Shipping Bill and Bill of Entry work, House and Master documentation, the transport module and your statutory returns stay where they are. The warehouse is the exception: Binsy, the FreighAI warehouse product, runs together with FreighAI today. Start with pricing and operations and move the rest when you are ready.
Can the Shipmnts shared workspace be opened to our overseas agents and carriers?
Ask Shipmnts directly and get the answer in writing, because it changes how much of this page applies to you. Their material describes a shared workspace for your team and your customer. Whether agents, carriers and CHAs can be brought into it is not described in Shipmnts’ published material, checked September 2026. The wider that workspace reaches, the less mail is left, and what is left is what FreighAI works.
Does “Seamless Email Collaboration in Context” already cover this?
That is the second question to put to them. Shipmnts uses that phrase on its homepage. Whether it reads an incoming mailbox and acts on what it finds, or threads outbound mail onto a shipment record, is not described in Shipmnts’ published material, checked September 2026. Test their answer against ours: Every email your company receives is read, understood and turned into a task for the right person, with the answer already drafted. Your team approves. Nobody lives in the inbox any more.
Can FreighAI write into Shipmnts?
No connector is live and none is implied. What FreighAI can read from or return to Shipmnts is settled for the chosen workflow, with its objects, direction, access and limits written down. We scope the first workflow, integration requirements and implementation plan with your team. Where a person completes the last step by hand, the plan says so.
Which workflow should a Shipmnts team start with?
Start where work enters by email or WhatsApp, moves between people, or waits for somebody to remember. The international enquiry is the usual candidate. For a CHA team it may be the queries around a Bill of Entry.
Does our team have to stop using email?
Nobody gives up email. Your people stop working inside it. Agents, airlines and customers write to the same addresses as today, and each thread arrives on the task screen with the reply drafted. Your team approves. They do not compose, forward, file or chase. The reply goes out in their name. Chasing, tracking checks, quote expiry and follow-ups run on their own. Nobody has to remember.

Shipmnts' headline counts and its go-live claim are deliberately not repeated, and neither is its help centre, which redirected to a login and was not read. Bring one week of mail from outside the workspace
Pick any thread from last week that did not begin on your platform. An agent's rate reply, an enquiry from a customer's purchasing office, a carrier bill in an attachment. We will show what FreighAI would have read, found, drafted and assigned, and what each of the two doors would mean for that thread.
