Where every shipment stands, straight from the source
Every shipment you handle has a status somewhere: at the port, at customs, at the airport, on the road, at the tax office. FreighAI reads it from the government’s own systems and puts it on the job, for every container, every air waybill and every truck. Your team stops chasing and starts answering.
It comes through ULIP, the Government of India’s Unified Logistics Interface Platform. FreighAI has been an authorised licence holder since August 2026. That is why the answer can be trusted: it is the same data the port, customs and the tax office see. And it is how we line FreighAI up with the National Logistics Policy 2022.

- 01FreighAI is an authorised ULIP licence holder since August 2026. Your team uses ULIP through FreighAI. No government portal logins.
- 02Seven jobs run on it: container and port status, customs status, air cargo, truck and driver checks, FASTag road tracking, e-way bills, GST and IEC checks.
- 03It shows up on every desk: pricing checks the customer, operations sees the container, documentation sees the bill of entry, customer service answers “where is my cargo”, accounts has proof on file.
- 04Nothing goes to a customer on its own. The agent reads, drafts and files. Your person approves.
- 05ULIP is India. Shipments outside India are tracked through other sources on the same page.
One door to the government’s data, instead of six portals
Most of the status a forwarder chases already sits in a government system. The port. Customs. The airport. The toll gantry. The tax office. Until 2022, each one was its own login.
The National Logistics Policy 2022 changed that with ULIP: one platform that joins the ministries’ systems and hands the data out through APIs. As of the government’s own count on 10 December 2025, that is 44 systems across 11 ministries through 136 APIs. It is the single best source of freight status in India, and it belongs to the government, not to a vendor.
FreighAI has been an authorised ULIP user since August 2026 and works with its APIs directly: port and container tracking, customs status, air cargo, vehicle and FASTag data, e-way bills, and GST and IEC checks. We chose the government’s door over scraping portals because it is authorised, it is the same data the authorities see, and it puts FreighAI in step with where Indian logistics policy is going.
FreighAI holds the licence and runs the connection. Your team never registers anywhere, never opens a ULIP screen, and never keys a container number into a government portal. The data comes to the job.
Every desk in a forwarding office, and what ULIP does there
This is the part that matters: not what ULIP is, but what changes on a Tuesday.
| Desk | What used to happen | What FreighAI does with ULIP | What moves |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pricing and sales | Quote first, find out later that the customer’s IEC or GST is wrong. | Checks the customer’s GST and IEC before the quote goes out. Flags a mismatch on the enquiry. | Fewer bad debts. Fewer quotes to firms that cannot import. |
| Operations | Phone the port, or open the terminal portal, to find the container. | Reads container and terminal status from the Port Community System and the Logistics Data Bank. Puts it on the job. | Hours of chasing gone. Delays seen before the customer sees them. |
| Documentation | Wait to hear whether the bill of entry or shipping bill has moved. | Reads customs status from ICEGATE and shows it on the job. Ties the e-way bill to the movement. | Documents move when the goods move. Missing paperwork spotted early. |
| Customer service | “Where is my cargo?” means three portals and a call back. | Drafts the answer from live status on the customer’s own thread. Your team approves every reply before it sends. | Answered in minutes. Updates sent before the customer asks. |
| Road operations | Hire a truck on trust. Track it by phone calls. | Checks the vehicle in VAHAN and the driver in SARATHI before the hire. Tracks the movement by FASTag toll reads when there is no GPS. | No unregistered trucks. Position without a device. |
| Accounts | Argue a delay or a demurrage claim with no record. | Keeps the government’s status trail on the job, so the record is there when a dispute comes. | Fewer disputes. Faster settlement. |

ULIP, end to end
A container number, a bill of entry, an air waybill, a truck, a GST number. The agent knows which job needs what.
Through FreighAI’s authorised connection, to the ministry system that holds the answer. One request, one answer. No bulk feeds.
Port, customs, airport, road or tax status, beside the enquiry it belongs to. Nobody re-keys it.
A tracking answer for the customer. A flag on a failed check. An e-way bill tied to the movement.
Every message a customer sees waits for a person. The agent does the work, creates a task, and notifies the person to sign it off.
What your team can do once ULIP is connected
The Port Community System, the terminal systems and the Logistics Data Bank, read for every container FreighAI is handling. Delays show up on the job before anyone rings the port.
Bill of entry and shipping bill status from ICEGATE, India’s customs system, on the job. Your team learns a document is stuck before the truck reaches the gate.
Air waybill and handling status from the air cargo systems, so an air shipment is tracked the same way as a sea one.
The vehicle in VAHAN, the driver in SARATHI. A hired truck is checked in seconds, not on trust.
FASTag toll reads place a truck on the road with no device fitted and no driver app. Position when there is no GPS.
The tax document travels with the goods. FreighAI reads it and keeps it beside the job, so a missing or expired e-way bill is easy to spot.
GST and IEC checked through the government’s own systems before a quote or a booking. A wrong or lapsed number is flagged on the enquiry.
What connecting it involves
- 01
You tell us where your freight moves
Ports, airports, lanes, and the road legs you hire. That decides which government systems the agent reads for you.
- 02
You choose the checks
GST and IEC on every new customer. Vehicle and licence on every hired truck. Some teams want all of it, some want two. It runs on its own once chosen.
- 03
The connection is scoped
Connectors are scoped during implementation and charged for. Nothing is promised before it is scoped. We scope the first workflow, integration requirements and implementation plan with your team.
- 04
You run it beside your own checks for a fortnight
Keep phoning the port and the agent as you do today. Let FreighAI read in parallel. Compare, then trust it.
What the ULIP connection does not do
Worth knowing before you plan around it.
- ULIP is India. It does not cover the UAE. Work outside India is tracked through shipping-line APIs and the express carriers, on the same job.
- FreighAI does not file customs declarations. It treats customs as a service provider or agent, and your team adds and updates the filing details by hand.
- A status read through ULIP is as fresh as the ministry system behind it. If that system has not updated, the answer has not changed either.
- It is request and response. FreighAI asks for one job at a time. There is no bulk feed and nothing arrives on its own without a job asking.
- No personal data comes out of ULIP. Personal fields are filtered before anything leaves the platform.
- ULIP work for a customer is scoped during implementation. Nothing is promised before it is scoped.
Where FreighAI stands with the policy
The policy set out to cut logistics cost, cut paperwork and give everyone in the chain the same view of a shipment. ULIP is its data layer. FreighAI is built on it.
- One door. The policy’s idea is one platform for government logistics data. FreighAI uses that door, as an authorised licence holder, rather than scraping around it.
- Same data as the authorities. What your team sees on the job is what the port, customs and the tax office see. That is what ends arguments.
- Compliance by default. GST, IEC, vehicle, licence and e-way bill checks happen because the agent runs them, not because someone remembered.
- Proof on file. Every status read is kept beside the job. When a claim or a dispute comes, the record is already there.
The government built the door. FreighAI is licensed to use it. Your team gets the answers without ever seeing the door.
ULIP first, then the shipping lines
Track and trace uses every available source: mostly ULIP, and shipping-line APIs wherever a line offers one.
Answers “where is my cargo?” on the customer’s own thread, from carrier status, for approval. In India that status comes mostly from ULIP. Where a shipping line offers its own API, FreighAI reads that too. Express shipments come through the DHL and FedEx connections. The customer sees one answer, on their own thread, in your person’s name.
Common questions
Is FreighAI really authorised to use ULIP?
Yes. FreighAI has been an authorised ULIP licence holder since August 2026, through ULIP’s own process, and works with its APIs directly.
Does my company need its own ULIP registration?
No. Your team uses ULIP through FreighAI’s authorised connection. Nobody on your side registers anywhere or opens a government screen. What the connection covers for you is agreed during scoping.
What does my team actually see?
The answer, on the job it belongs to. A container’s port status beside the shipment. A bill of entry status beside the documents. A flag on a customer whose GST does not check out. A drafted “where is my cargo” reply waiting for approval.
Does it cover my UAE shipments?
No. ULIP is India. Shipments outside India are tracked through shipping-line APIs and the express carriers, and the customer still gets one answer on one thread.
What if the government system is late or down?
Then the status on the job is as fresh as that system. FreighAI shows when a status was last read, so nobody mistakes an old answer for a new one. A person still checks before anything goes to a customer.
Does FreighAI file customs through ULIP?
No. FreighAI does not file customs declarations. It treats customs as a service provider or agent, and your team adds and updates the filing details by hand. ULIP is used to read the status of a filing, not to make one.
What does the ULIP connection cost?
Connectors are scoped during implementation and charged for. Nothing is promised before it is scoped. The scope says which checks and which systems are covered before anything is agreed.

Bring one container number and one truck.
We will read the port, customs and the toll gantry for the container, check the truck and the driver, and put the answers on the job in front of you. Then you decide.
