FreighAI vs Augment
Both companies sell AI that does freight work, not AI that answers questions. Both take an inbound message, do the job behind it, and write the result back into the systems you already run. Where Augment is the better fit, this page says so.
The two products were built around different freight, and they treat approval differently. Every email your company receives is read, understood and turned into a task for the right person, with the answer already drafted. Your team approves. Nobody lives in the inbox any more.
- 01Augment’s agent is called Augie. Augment says it automates quoting, booking, track and trace, and order-to-cash, and describes it as an AI teammate rather than a single-purpose email or voice agent.
- 02Its published material is road-first and North American: freight brokerages, truckload and less-than-truckload carriers, drayage, shippers, 3PLs and B2B distributors, across the United States and Canada.
- 03FreighAI is built for an international freight forwarder: pricing, operations, tracking and accounts, with agents overseas, and air and ocean files rather than loads.
- 04Augment is stronger on voice, on carrier onboarding and compliance checks, on facility appointment scheduling, and on letting your own team write a workflow in plain English. FreighAI offers none of those today.
- 05The control models differ, and both are defensible. Augie executes, and escalates when it is unsure. FreighAI hands a finished task to a named person and waits for approval before anything sends. Test that on one real thread from last week, in both demonstrations, before you believe either pitch.
What Augment does well
Augment calls Augie “The AI Teammate for Logistics & Supply Chain”. Its material describes one agent that works across calls, emails, texts, portals and APIs while keeping context across all of them, executes end-to-end work such as booking a load or collecting a proof of delivery, and writes the result back into the customer’s own TMS or ERP. It is a serious product with a clear buyer.
Augie talks to carriers by email, voice and text, supports drivers, and takes phone orders, keeping context across every channel it uses. Its own material makes the point that it is not a single-purpose voice agent. FreighAI has no calling channel today. If much of your day is spent on the phone, this is a genuine Augment advantage.
The published workflow set is built for the road: load building, carrier sourcing, dispatch, driver support, appointment scheduling, and carrier onboarding with compliance verification against named carrier and data networks. For a brokerage or a truckload carrier that is a recognisable day. FreighAI covers none of it.
Augment says you describe what should happen in plain English and Augie builds it, that you preview exactly what will change before it goes live, and that you test before you ship. An operations lead can change how the work runs without waiting for an engineer, which is an unusual amount of control to hand a buyer.
Augment says there is no rip-and-replace and that Augie works inside your systems of record, custom-built ones included, reachable through Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Chat, email and text. It also publishes its pricing model, charging per completed workflow rather than per seat. Both count in its favour.
Same layer, different freight
Both products sit in the same place: above the systems of record, doing the work that arrives as messages. Neither is a system of record itself, and neither asks you to throw yours away. What differs is the freight each was designed around, and who holds the pen at the end. Augment’s material describes road brokerage, truckload and less-than-truckload carriers, drayage, 3PLs and B2B distribution across the United States and Canada. FreighAI is built around an international forwarder’s departments.
The same job, shaped for different freight
Start with what is genuinely shared. Then look at where each product’s depth actually sits, and who signs before a customer sees anything.
Both products read an inbound message and its attachments. Both work out what it is, spot what is missing, and chase what has not come back. Both collect documents and match them to the right file. Both watch shipments and answer status questions. Both write into the system you already run. If a supplier tells you these two do completely different jobs, they have not read the material.
It watches every company mailbox, pricing, operations, tracking and accounts, and follows each conversation from start to finish. It works out what each email is and what it needs, then takes the action that message calls for. It writes the reply, creates the task, and puts it in front of the right person in the right department, beside the original conversation. Your team approves. They do not compose, forward, file or chase. The reply goes out in their name.
Your people work in FreighAI. Not in the inbox. Not in five browser tabs.
A forwarder’s enquiry is not a load
A load has a pickup, a drop and a carrier. A forwarder’s enquiry arrives with a port pair or an airport pair, a commodity, dimensions that are often missing, and a lane you may hold no rate for at all. The answer frequently depends on an agent in another country replying at their convenience, not yours. Spots what is missing in an enquiry and drafts the email asking for it. Emails all your agents for a lane in one go, with the route and charge lines filled in, then chases the ones who do not reply. Suggests a price from what that customer paid on that lane before, within your margin rules.
Emailing every agent for a lane in one go and chasing the quiet ones is not described in augment’s published material, checked september 2026. Nor are quote versions, automatic expiry, or a counter-offer drafted when the customer pushes back. That is not the same as saying Augie cannot do them. It means the evidence is not public, so the demonstration has to settle it.
The mirror image is just as true. Onboarding a carrier, verifying its compliance status, dispatching a driver and booking a delivery appointment are real daily jobs on the road side. Augment covers them and FreighAI does not. Judge the depth in the workflow that actually costs your business money.
Who signs before the customer sees it
This is the honest difference in kind, and it is a design choice rather than a defect. Augment describes execution: Augie completes the workflow, escalates when it meets an unfamiliar situation, and routes low-confidence document matches into exception queues. That model is fast, and it suits high-volume road work where a missed check call costs more than a wrong word.
FreighAI’s model is that a person signs. Your team approves every reply before it sends. Your team approves. They do not compose, forward, file or chase. The reply goes out in their name. That suits a forwarder, where a quote carries a margin, a commitment and a customer relationship, and where the wrong number sent quickly is worse than the right number sent in fifteen minutes. Neither model is universally correct. Decide which failure you would rather explain to your customer.
- Every department mailbox
- A task for a named person
- Approval before every reply
- Agents emailed and chased for a lane
- Counter-offers, expiry and versions
- Carrier bills matched to jobs
- Calls, texts, portals and APIs
- Load building and dispatch
- Carrier onboarding and compliance
- Facility appointment scheduling
- Workflow builder in plain English
- Slack, Teams and Google Chat
Which one should you shortlist?
Truckload, less-than-truckload, drayage or last mile, with carriers and drivers on the phone all day, and carrier onboarding and appointments as the daily grind.
Air, ocean and cross-trade files, agents overseas, quotes that carry a margin, and departments that hand work between pricing, operations and accounts.
A road brokerage and a forwarding desk are already separate work with separate people. One product each is reasonable. One mailbox with two agents in it is not.
What happens to one enquiry in FreighAI
An enquiry arrives. FreighAI reads it, notices the weight is missing and asks for it. It pulls your rate cards, checks the carrier for a live rate, and emails your agents for the lanes you do not hold, then chases them until they reply. It drafts the quote with your margin rules and what that customer paid on that lane last time. Your pricer approves and it goes. It follows up. When the customer pushes back, the counter-offer is already drafted. When the quote is old, it expires. When it is won, the job is created.
Where the rate can be fetched without waiting on a person — a carrier API, a portal read in the background, or your own uploaded rate cards — a priced quote goes out in 10–15 minutes instead of 1–2 hours. That holds for ocean and air just as it does for express; the mode does not change it. Where a lane has to be priced by another agent or over the phone, the wait belongs to whoever is answering — not to the software. FreighAI still writes the RFQ, chases the reply, and turns whatever comes back into a priced, margin-checked quote the moment it lands.
A won quote becomes a job on its own, fully filled in. Work passes from pricing to operations to accounts with the email and everything it found attached. Nobody forwards it, re-keys it or asks for an update.

- 01EnquiryArrives in the mailbox your customer already writes to.
- 02Missing detail requestedThe gap is spotted and the email asking for it is drafted.
- 03Rate cards, carrier, agentsYour own rates, the carrier, then every agent for the lanes you do not hold.
- 04Drafted quoteYour margin rules, and what that customer paid on that lane last time.
- GATEPricer approvesThe reply goes out in their name.
- 06Follow-up and counter-offerChasers run on the same conversation, and the counter-offer is drafted.
- 07Expiry or jobOld prices expire on their own; a won quote becomes a job.
At Infinity Logistics, average response time fell from more than 60 minutes to about 15 minutes, and the win rate rose from 35% to 73%. Those are one customer’s attributed results, not a promise to every business.

“Unknown” means the reviewed public material did not establish enough for a fair yes or no. It never means Augment lacks the capability. Close any row that affects your decision inside the demonstration, and make each supplier answer with a screen rather than a sentence.
Who holds the pen: execute, or approve?
Augment’s published model is autonomous execution, with escalation when Augie is unsure. FreighAI’s model is that a person signs, on a task that is already finished when it reaches them.
- Every reply is approvedYour team approves every reply before it sends.
- Approve, not composeYour team approves. They do not compose, forward, file or chase. The reply goes out in their name.
- The background still runsChasing, tracking checks, quote expiry and follow-ups run on their own. Nobody has to remember.
- Nobody hops between websitesFreighAI talks to carriers, portals, your TMS and your accounting system itself. Nobody hops between websites to put an answer together.
Which one you should actually pick
If nobody should ever choose the other product, this page would not be worth reading. Here is where each genuinely wins.
- your freight is road: truckload, less-than-truckload, drayage or last mile, in the United States or Canada;
- a large share of the daily work happens on the phone, and you want it captured rather than typed up afterwards;
- carrier onboarding, compliance verification and facility appointments are what consume your team;
- you want your own operations lead to write and change workflows in plain English, without waiting for anyone; or
- your team would rather stay inside Slack or Teams than open another product, and per-completed-workflow pricing suits how you buy.
- you are an international freight forwarder, and the work is air, ocean and agents overseas rather than loads;
- the pricing burden is the legwork around the quote: the missing detail, every agent emailed and chased, the counter-offer, the expiry;
- you want every department’s email turned into a task for a named person, with the reply already written and the thread beside it;
- you want a person to sign before anything reaches a customer. Your team approves every reply before it sends.
- quotation should join up over time with booking, tracking, carrier-bill matching and collection on one platform. Keep your TMS for the records. FreighAI runs the work around them.
FreighAI’s central proposition is: Same team. 5x more business. That is the intended value position, not a universal measured result. Make the decision from demonstrated workflow fit on your own freight, not from either company’s framing.
Can the two coexist?
Sometimes, and it depends on your freight mix. A group that runs a domestic road brokerage and an international forwarding desk could reasonably put Augie on the road side and FreighAI on the forwarding side. The work, the people and the customers are already separate, so the two never meet in one conversation.
Running both against the same enquiry is a different matter. Two agents reading one mailbox will duplicate replies, contradict each other on price and disagree about who owns the conversation. If the same desk is in scope for both products, choose one. FreighAI is an AI-first freight operations platform that can run standalone or work alongside an existing TMS or ERP. It does not require a forced replacement.
What should you check in both demonstrations?
A brokerage load and a forwarder’s enquiry look almost identical on a slide, and behave nothing alike once the weight is missing and the price has to come from an agent in Singapore. So hand both suppliers the awkward version of your own work, not the tidy one, and watch them run it.
- a normal enquiry, a difficult one, and one with the weight or dimensions missing;
- one live email thread from a department mailbox, with its full history attached;
- the rate sources you really use: your own cards, a carrier account, or an agent you have to email;
- the margin rules and approval limits that apply to a real quote;
- one carrier bill that covers several jobs at once; and
- an agent who comes back priced for a different lane from the one you asked about.
Ask each supplier what happens when the rate cannot be fetched without waiting on a person. A carrier connection or your own rate card is a different situation from waiting on an agent in another time zone, and any turnaround figure that ignores the difference is not worth comparing.
Then settle the axis this page turns on. Ask each supplier to say out loud which messages leave your building without a person reading them first. One answer will be most of the routine ones, offered as a strength, and for road work it often is. The other answer is none. Choose the one you would rather defend to a customer after the first mistake.
Common questions
Is Augment built for freight forwarders?
Its material names freight brokerages, truckload and less-than-truckload carriers, drayage companies, shippers, 3PLs and B2B distributors, across the United States and Canada. International forwarding files, customs work and overseas agent networks are not described in Augment’s published material, checked September 2026. Ask for a forwarding customer reference rather than assuming either way.
Does FreighAI do voice like Augie?
No. FreighAI works on email and WhatsApp, and reads PDF, Excel, Word, forwarded email, photos and scans. There is no calling channel today. If phone work is central to your day, Augment covers it and FreighAI does not, and that should count in the decision.
Do both keep a person in control?
Differently, and both models are defensible. Your team approves every reply before it sends. Your team approves. They do not compose, forward, file or chase. The reply goes out in their name. Augment describes autonomous execution with escalation when Augie meets an unfamiliar situation, and exception queues for anything it cannot match confidently. Ask both suppliers to show that path live, with a case they did not prepare for.
Do we have to give up our TMS for either product?
No, on both sides. Augment says there is no rip-and-replace and that Augie works inside your systems of record. Keep your TMS for the records. FreighAI runs the work around them. FreighAI is an AI-first freight operations platform that can run standalone or work alongside an existing TMS or ERP. It does not require a forced replacement.
Which one is cheaper, or faster to put in?
No comparable public figure was established, so this page makes no such claim. Augment publishes a per-completed-workflow pricing model. We scope the first workflow, integration requirements and implementation plan with your team.
Could Augie handle an air or ocean enquiry?
Possibly. Its material describes reading emails, PDFs and portal messages and building structured work from them, which is the same shape of problem. What is not established is whether it prices a lane by emailing overseas agents, handles quote versions and expiry, or produces the documents an air or ocean file needs. Treat that as a demonstration question, not a settled no.

FreighAI claims come from the shared claims register and the signed Infinity Logistics reference of 15 May 2026. Augment’s published outcome figures, aggregate volume figures, customer names and headcount are deliberately not repeated, because that evidence has not been independently reviewed for this page. Its own workflows page returned an error on 3 September 2026, so the workflow set was read from its buyer pages. No headquarters is stated, because its material names four offices and does not name one.
Put one real thread in front of both
Take one email thread from last week with everything messy still attached: the missing weight, the agent who went quiet, the customer who pushed back on price. Ask both teams to work it end to end, and to show exactly what would have sent without a person seeing it. Then decide whether your freight looks more like a load, or more like a file.
