FreighAI vs Fero
Both companies sell AI-led software to logistics businesses. Both quote and price work. Both handle documents and invoices. Both connect to systems you already run.
They answer the same complaint in opposite ways. Fero asks you to move the conversation off email and onto its platform. FreighAI leaves the email where it is. Every email your company receives is read, understood and turned into a task for the right person, with the answer already drafted. Your team approves. Nobody lives in the inbox any more.
Where Fero is the better choice, this page says so. Every statement about Fero comes from its own published pages, fetched on 3 September 2026.
- 01Both products promise less manual coordination. They go about it in opposite ways, and that is the whole decision.
- 02Fero’s answer to the cluttered inbox is to leave it. Its platform page tells you to break away from cluttered email inboxes and use in-platform messaging. Its assistant, TiA, works over voice and WhatsApp too.
- 03FreighAI’s answer is to keep email where it is. Your customer writes to the same address as always. FreighAI reads the thread, does the work behind it, and hands a finished task to the right person to approve.
- 04Fero is stronger on road transport: trips, consolidation, drivers, vehicles and a mobile app. It also has voice, published per-trip and per-driver plans, and offerings for ports, courier and distribution. FreighAI has none of that.
- 05FreighAI covers more of a forwarding file after the quote: chasing agents, drafting the counter-offer, expiring old prices, booking, tracking replies and carrier-bill matching.
- 06Several Fero areas are not settled by its published material. Ask about them in a demonstration. This page never treats silence as absence.
What Fero does well
Fero has been building logistics automation since 2018 and now runs three product sites. Its story is coherent: take the manual coordination out of a freight transaction, then run that transaction on one platform. TAME is its transport management system, DASH its distribution system, Fero GPT its analytics layer, and TiA the assistant that talks to everyone over voice, WhatsApp and email.
TAME publishes load management, trip scheduling, consolidation, milestones, a mobile app and analytics. DASH adds drivers, vehicles and telematics. FreighAI does not plan a trip, schedule a vehicle or run a fleet. If the work that matters to you is trucking, Fero does something FreighAI does not do at all.
Fero describes TiA as the sweet spot between human and artificial intelligence, not a chat tool, and says it communicates over multiple channels including email and WhatsApp messages, in text and voice, around the clock. Its technology page adds voice messages and milestone confirmation over voice. FreighAI has no voice channel today. Where your counterparties will take a call but not read a long email, that matters.
TAME publishes a free tier with a monthly credit, a per-trip price and a custom enterprise option. DASH publishes a free tier, a per-driver monthly price and a custom option. Fero GPT signs up with a Google or Microsoft account. A buyer can size the cost before speaking to anyone. FreighAI does not publish comparable figures.
Fero’s platform page lists spot and long-term lease RFQ, a bidding loop across market, long, spot and term bids, lane and rate management, one-screen order management, and digital documentation and invoicing. Its technology page describes an AI-based quotation engine and rate generation driven by clustering algorithms. Supplier onboarding is a named strength, and twenty-one ERPs and warehouse systems are stated as connected, with CargoWise and SAP named.
Overlapping work, different centre of gravity
Quoting, pricing, procurement, documents and invoicing appear on both sides, so the overlap is real. But Fero’s published centre of gravity is the movement of road freight: trips, loads, consolidation, drivers and milestones. On fero.ai the freight-forwarder card is headed “Every Solution For Your Road Freight Business”, and the modules under it are the ones also offered to hauliers and port communities. FreighAI’s centre of gravity is the correspondence of a forwarding file: the enquiry, the agent replies, the booking, the “where is my cargo?” email and the carrier bill.
Move the conversation, or take over the work
Both want the coordination to stop being manual. They disagree about where the conversation should live.
Fero’s platform page is direct about it. Break away from disorganized, cluttered email inboxes and spreadsheets, it says, with in-platform real-time messaging tools. Its TiA page goes further: go from quotation to invoicing without a single phone call or email. Fero asks your counterparties to come to Fero.
It is a coherent position. Fero calls its platform a control tower for your freight operations on the demand and supply sides, and says it makes an uber cluster out of each freight forwarder. A cluster only works if the members join it.
That works when you can move them. A haulier’s own drivers and transporters can be onboarded onto a platform and kept there, which is what Fero’s supplier-onboarding story is built around. A customer who has emailed the same address for nine years is a harder ask, and so is an agent at the other end of the lane.
FreighAI leaves the channel alone and changes who does the work. It watches every company mailbox, pricing, operations, tracking and accounts, and follows each conversation from start to finish. It writes the reply, creates the task, and puts it in front of the right person in the right department, beside the original conversation. Your team approves. They do not compose, forward, file or chase. The reply goes out in their name.
Nothing changes for the people writing to you. They keep using the address they always used. The change is on your side of the conversation only.
The email is only the start. The real time goes on what comes after it. Pulls your rate cards, checks the carrier, looks up the customer’s history, reads the shipment status, and talks to your TMS or accounting system. FreighAI talks to carriers, portals, your TMS and your accounting system itself. Nobody hops between websites to put an answer together. Work passes from pricing to operations to accounts with the email and everything it found attached. Nobody forwards it, re-keys it or asks for an update.
Breadth of the job
Fero’s breadth runs sideways, across industries. Forwarders, hauliers, third-party logistics providers, manufacturers, distributors, courier companies and port communities each get an offering, built largely from the same modules. FreighAI’s breadth runs along one lifecycle: quotation, booking, tracking, partner discovery, invoice reconciliation and collection. Neither shape is better. Ask which matches the business you run.
- Every company mailbox, every department
- Each conversation turned into a task for the right person
- Agents emailed for a lane, then chased
- Booking and job orders
- Tracking replies on the customer’s thread
- Carrier-bill matching and collection
- In-platform real-time messaging
- TiA over voice, WhatsApp and email
- Trip planning and consolidation
- Drivers, vehicles and telematics
- Bidding and supplier onboarding
- Ports, courier and distribution
What happens to one enquiry in FreighAI
An enquiry arrives. FreighAI reads it, notices the weight is missing and asks for it. It pulls your rate cards, checks the carrier for a live rate, and emails your agents for the lanes you do not hold, then chases them until they reply. It drafts the quote with your margin rules and what that customer paid on that lane last time. Your pricer approves and it goes. It follows up. When the customer pushes back, the counter-offer is already drafted. When the quote is old, it expires. When it is won, the job is created.
Where the rate can be fetched without waiting on a person — a carrier API, a portal read in the background, or your own uploaded rate cards — a priced quote goes out in 10–15 minutes instead of 1–2 hours. That holds for ocean and air just as it does for express; the mode does not change it. Where a lane has to be priced by another agent or over the phone, the wait belongs to whoever is answering — not to the software. FreighAI still writes the RFQ, chases the reply, and turns whatever comes back into a priced, margin-checked quote the moment it lands.

Which one you should actually pick
If nobody should ever choose the other product, this page would not be worth reading. Here is where each genuinely wins.
- the work you want automated is road transport: trips, loads, consolidation, drivers, vehicles and delivery milestones;
- voice matters, because the people you coordinate with will take a call but will not read a long email;
- you want to size the cost yourself first, from published per-trip or per-driver plans with a free tier;
- you can realistically move your suppliers and transporters onto one platform and keep them there; or
- your business includes port, free-zone, courier or distribution work alongside forwarding, where Fero has a named offering and FreighAI does not.
- the work you want back is correspondence: the enquiries, the agent replies, the booking confirmations, the “where is my cargo?” emails and the carrier bills;
- your customers and agents will not move channel, and the address they already write to has to keep working;
- the pricing burden is the legwork around the quote: asking for the missing detail, emailing every agent for a lane and chasing the quiet ones, drafting the counter-offer;
- quotation has to connect over time with booking, tracking replies, carrier-bill matching and collection. Keep your TMS for the records. FreighAI runs the work around them.
- a named person must approve every reply before it goes, in their own name.
FreighAI’s central proposition is: Same team. 5x more business. That is the intended value position, not a measured result at every business. Decide from what each product does with your own work.
Can FreighAI and Fero coexist?
More easily than with a like-for-like competitor, because the centres of gravity differ. A business that trucks its own freight and also books international shipments could run Fero for the road side and FreighAI for the correspondence around the file.
Do it deliberately. The overlap is real in quoting, rate management, documents and invoicing. Decide once which product owns the customer record, which owns the price, and which one the accepted job is created in. Two products quoting the same lane from two rate sets is worse than either alone.
Where the whole requirement is correspondence, or the whole requirement is running trucks, the answer is one or the other.
What should you verify in both demonstrations?
Bring the same evidence to both suppliers:
- a normal enquiry, a difficult one and one with a detail missing;
- one live email thread from a department mailbox, with its history;
- the rate cards, carrier accounts or agent requests you actually use;
- the margin and approval rules that apply;
- the system that owns the accepted job; and
- one exception that needs a person to judge it.
Ask what happens when the rate is not machine-reachable. A carrier connection, a background portal read or an uploaded rate card is a different thing from waiting on another agent. Any turnaround comparison that ignores the rate source is misleading.
Then ask the channel question. Will your customers and agents come to a new platform, or will they keep emailing? If they will keep emailing, the product has to work there.
Common questions
Is Fero a TMS?
Yes, by its own description. Fero TAME is presented as an intelligent TMS and Fero DASH as a distribution management system. Both publish plans and state connections to ERP and warehouse systems.
Does Fero work over email?
Its assistant, TiA, is described as communicating over multiple channels including email and WhatsApp messages, in text and voice. The stated goal is to need email less: its own words are to go from quotation to invoicing without a single phone call or email. Ask to see one long thread handled end to end.
Does FreighAI plan trips or run a fleet?
No. Warehouse and fleet management stay in the system you already run for them. FreighAI works on the correspondence and the tasks around your shipments, and talks to the systems holding the records.
Which Fero product would a forwarder actually buy?
Its material points to TAME, presented as the intelligent TMS, with CrossDock and Fero GPT alongside it and TiA as the assistant. DASH is the distribution system. Ask Fero to confirm which of these carries the forwarding workflow you care about, because the module lists are shared across several industries.
Which one is cheaper?
Fero publishes per-trip and per-driver plans for TAME and DASH, each with a free tier. No public price was found for its forwarder platform itself. We scope the first workflow, integration requirements and implementation plan with your team. Compare the same workflow, connections, volume and support on both sides.
Do both keep a person in charge?
Your team approves every reply before it sends. Your team approves. They do not compose, forward, file or chase. The reply goes out in their name. A human approval step before a reply is sent is not described in Fero’s published material, checked September 2026. Ask both suppliers to show the approval and the exception path live.
Can either connect to the system we already run?
Fero names twenty-one connected ERPs and warehouse systems, describes RESTful APIs, and names CargoWise and SAP as examples. FreighAI is an AI-first freight operations platform that can run standalone or work alongside an existing TMS or ERP. It does not require a forced replacement. Verify the exact system and the exact operations, not a logo.

FreighAI claims come from the shared claims file and the signed Infinity Logistics reference of 15 May 2026. Fero’s material sits on two hosts, both treated as current: fero.ai carries the corporate and product framing, ae.fero.ai the longer platform, assistant and technology pages. Fero’s customer names, country count, the processing figure on its assistant page and the consultancy numbers on its ports page are deliberately not repeated, because none has been independently reviewed for this page.
Bring one thread from last week
Pick a real enquiry that took your team too long, with the agent replies underneath it. Ask both suppliers to show the missing detail being chased, the agent who goes quiet, the customer who pushes back on price, the approval and the hand-off. Then decide whether your work should move to a new platform, or whether the platform should come and get the work where it already lands.
