FreighAI vs Aircon
Both companies sell AI to air freight forwarders. Both turn a quote request into a price a customer can act on. Both say the commercial decision stays with your team.
Where that decision is made is what differs. Aircon governs the air quote in a layer above the systems you already run. FreighAI starts a step earlier, at the email. Every email your company receives is read, understood and turned into a task for the right person, with the answer already drafted. Your team approves. Nobody lives in the inbox any more.
Aircon scopes its own material to air freight and to the quoting moment. Everything said about Aircon here comes from its own published pages, fetched on 3 September 2026.
- 01Aircon calls itself a decision layer. Its own words: an evaluation surface that sits above, not inside, a TMS, applying pricing, routing, feasibility and margin logic at the moment of decision.
- 02It is strong where FreighAI is not. Air rates across carriers, GSSAs, consolidators and marketplaces. IAC rules and routing feasibility checked before a quote goes out. Margin floors and customer tiers applied automatically, with a record of which rule fired.
- 03It leaves your intake alone on purpose. Its FAQ says your teams keep using the same channels, email, portals or internal requests, and Aircon sits behind that workflow.
- 04FreighAI changes the intake deliberately. The email arrives in FreighAI, becomes a task for a named person with the answer already written, and the reply goes back on the same thread once that person approves. Pricing, operations, tracking and accounts, not the quote alone.
- 05Ocean, road and multimodal enquiries are not described in Aircon’s published material, checked September 2026. Every product page Aircon publishes is scoped to air freight.
- 06So the choice is narrow. If the air quote decision is your hardest problem, Aircon is doing something real. If the hours around it are the problem, that is a different purchase.
What Aircon does well
Aircon has built a coherent product around one moment. A quote request goes in, and pricing, routing, service feasibility and margin are evaluated together before anything reaches the customer. Commercial rules are set once by a pricing manager and applied on every quote after that, and each evaluation carries the logic behind it, so a manager can see which rules fired. Its material states it serves more than thirty-five forwarders and processes upward of seven thousand quotes a day, and its homepage claims bookable air quotes in under two minutes. Those are Aircon’s own figures, published on its site on 3 September 2026, and this page does not verify them.
Its material describes aggregating rates from airlines, GSSAs, consolidators and digital marketplaces, and booking freight across carriers, consolidators and marketplaces in one workflow. Its homepage card for that use case claims a 60% reduction in carrier evaluation time. FreighAI is not a rate source of that kind. If you want one place to compare many air options at once, Aircon does something we do not.
Its feasibility use case names IAC rules, routing feasibility, airport requirements and carrier conditions, alongside commodity restrictions and service timelines, with problems flagged before the quote is issued. That is real air freight knowledge encoded in the product. Nothing in FreighAI does this, and a quote that has been through those checks is worth more than one that has not.
A pricing manager sets margin floors, exclusions, customer tiers and spot triggers once. Aircon applies every applicable rule after that, flags anything that breaches a commercial boundary before it reaches the customer, and keeps approved overrides with the operator’s context in an audit log management reads for governance reviews. FreighAI keeps every version of a quote and shows the line that changed. It publishes no rule-firing audit log of that kind.
Its security page states SOC 2 Type II certification, independently audited, with TLS 1.3 in transit, AES-256 at rest and role-based access control. That is a published, checkable answer to a question every procurement team asks. FreighAI publishes no certification claim, so this page does not answer it for FreighAI at all. Ask us directly.
One shared moment, a different job around it
Aircon states its own position plainly: an evaluation surface that sits above, not inside, a TMS, applying pricing, routing, feasibility and margin logic at the moment of decision. It does not ask you to move where work arrives. FreighAI does. The mailbox is the product, and the quote is one of several things that come out of it.
The quote decision, and the conversation around it
Both act on the same enquiry. What differs is where the decision gets made, and how much of the day around it each product carries.
Picture an air pricing desk on a normal Tuesday. An enquiry arrives by mail, through a portal, or forwarded by a salesperson. Someone works out whether the commodity and the routing are viable at all, compares what the carriers are offering, checks the answer against the margin expected on that customer, and writes the reply. Then does it again. The quote is the visible part. The checking underneath is where the hours and the leakage sit.
Aircon takes that checking. In its own description, the forwarder inputs shipment details inside their existing quoting workflow, Aircon evaluates pricing, service feasibility, routing constraints and margin, and the forwarder reviews and issues the quote. It calls itself a commercial control layer on top of your existing quoting workflow. Its homepage says the request still comes in by email, portal or internal request, just like today.
What has to be true before a quote can go out
One of Aircon’s own posts draws a line worth borrowing. A quote is a price presented to the customer. A bookable shipment is a commitment the forwarder can stand behind. It sets five conditions for the second:
- Validated pricing, so the number will not move once somebody checks it properly.
- Intentional margin, set by a rule rather than by whoever was at the desk.
- Operational feasibility, so the routing, the airport and the commodity all work.
- Clear responsibility, so somebody owns the commitment just made.
- Visible decision logic, so the reasoning can be inspected afterwards.
What FreighAI does with the same email
FreighAI does not sit behind your intake. It becomes it. It watches every company mailbox, pricing, operations, tracking and accounts, and follows each conversation from start to finish. It works out what each email is and what it needs, then takes the action that message calls for. It writes the reply, creates the task, and puts it in front of the right person in the right department, beside the original conversation. Your team approves. They do not compose, forward, file or chase. The reply goes out in their name.
That matters most on the enquiries nobody enjoys. Spots what is missing in an enquiry and drafts the email asking for it. Emails all your agents for a lane in one go, with the route and charge lines filled in, then chases the ones who do not reply. Follow-ups, chasers and reminders happen on their own, on the same conversation.
Who is allowed to press send
Settle this row first, because Aircon’s material points two ways. On one side: "Aircon supports these decisions. It doesn’t replace them", and the forwarder reviews and issues the quote. On the other, the same site offers "automated, 24/7 quoting" and workflows that parse, validate, price and quote without human triggers. Both are published. Ask which one you are being shown. FreighAI has one answer and no modes. Your team approves every reply before it sends.
Where the rate actually comes from
You keep your own carrier accounts and negotiated rates. FreighAI never sits between you and your carrier relationship. FreighAI reads your rate cards and your own carrier account, and for lanes you do not hold it goes to the people you already work with. Aircon answers the same problem from the market end. If your buying advantage comes from seeing more of the market than you hold accounts with, that is Aircon’s ground, not ours.
Every company mailbox, pricing, operations, tracking and accounts. Each conversation becomes a task for a named person, with the answer already drafted.
An evaluation surface that sits above, not inside, a TMS. Pricing, routing, feasibility and margin, for air freight, before the quote is sent.
Shipments, documents and accounts, plus your own carrier accounts and rate cards. Both products leave these where they are.
From the email to the approved quote
An enquiry arrives. FreighAI reads it, notices the weight is missing and asks for it. It pulls your rate cards, checks the carrier for a live rate, and emails your agents for the lanes you do not hold, then chases them until they reply. It drafts the quote with your margin rules and what that customer paid on that lane last time. Your pricer approves and it goes. It follows up. When the customer pushes back, the counter-offer is already drafted. When the quote is old, it expires. When it is won, the job is created.
Where the rate can be fetched without waiting on a person — a carrier API, a portal read in the background, or your own uploaded rate cards — a priced quote goes out in 10–15 minutes instead of 1–2 hours. That holds for ocean and air just as it does for express; the mode does not change it. Where a lane has to be priced by another agent or over the phone, the wait belongs to whoever is answering — not to the software. FreighAI still writes the RFQ, chases the reply, and turns whatever comes back into a priced, margin-checked quote the moment it lands.
Aircon publishes its own volume and speed figures. They are its claims, made on its own site, and they are deliberately not set beside ours.

Not a shortlist to choose from. A quote already written.
Aircon returns a short list of viable service and cost options for your operator to select from. FreighAI puts the finished reply, the rates behind it and the margin check on one person’s desk, and does nothing further until that person says yes.

Which one you should actually pick
If nobody should ever choose the other product, this page would not be worth reading. Here is where each genuinely wins.
- Your margin leaks at the moment a price is set, and you want floors, exclusions and customer tiers enforced rather than remembered.
- Air is what you move, and the checks that matter are IAC rules, routing feasibility and airport requirements.
- You want one place to compare airlines, GSSAs, consolidators and marketplaces instead of only the accounts you hold.
- A published SOC 2 Type II certification is a procurement requirement you cannot move on.
- You want the enquiry to keep arriving exactly where it does today, with the change sitting behind it.
- The quote is not your only problem. The operations mail, the tracking questions and the accounts chasers eat the same hours.
- You want the enquiry to arrive somewhere that does something with it, rather than a shortlist handed back to whoever is free.
- Your day is lost to the small things around a price: the dimension the customer forgot, the agent who never answered, the quote nobody withdrew.
- You move ocean or road alongside air and want one way of working across all of them.
- You want a named person behind every message your customer receives, with no setting that removes them. Keep your TMS for the records. FreighAI runs the work around them.
FreighAI’s central proposition is: Same team. 5x more business. That is the intended value position, not a measured result for every business. Decide from what each product does with your own enquiries.
Aircon decides the air quote. Who runs the rest?
Coexistence is more honest here than on most comparison pages, because the two are strongest in different places. Air rate coverage, feasibility rules and the audit trail on one side. Mailbox coverage, task ownership, hand-offs and the work after the booking on the other. Aircon says itself that it works behind your existing intake. FreighAI is that intake.
It is not free. Both act on the same air enquiry, so running both without deciding who owns the answer produces two versions of the same quote. Agree which product the customer’s reply comes from, and where the margin rule lives. FreighAI is an AI-first freight operations platform that can run standalone or work alongside an existing TMS or ERP. It does not require a forced replacement. We scope the first workflow, integration requirements and implementation plan with your team. Neither company publishes a connector between the two, so any link is scoping work, not a switch.

Customs filing, statutory books, portals, warehousing and fleet work are not described in Aircon’s published material, checked September 2026. They appear above as FreighAI’s boundary, not as an Aircon gap. Keep your TMS for the records. FreighAI runs the work around them.
What should you put in front of both teams?
Five things, the same five to each supplier, from your own last fortnight:
- One straightforward air enquiry and one that is genuinely awkward.
- One enquiry with the chargeable weight or the dimensions missing.
- The margin policy you actually apply, including the customer who always gets a concession.
- A lane you hold no rate on, so you can watch each product ask somebody.
- One thread from a mailbox that is not sales, because that is where these two differ.
Then ask each team one question. Once the quote has been checked, where does it go, and whose name is on it? FreighAI talks to carriers, portals, your TMS and your accounting system itself. Nobody hops between websites to put an answer together. A demonstration that ends with a well-reasoned shortlist on a screen is a different purchase from one that ends with a written reply sitting on a named person’s desk.
The push-back we get on this comparison
Our margin rules already live in our TMS. Why buy either?
Because a rule in a system nobody opens during a rush is a rule that gets skipped. Aircon’s argument is that it should fire at the moment of decision and be logged when someone overrides it. FreighAI’s is that it should apply where the answer is written, so the person approving sees the price, the history and the margin check together. Neither of those is your TMS.
Aircon sits behind our existing intake. Is that not less disruptive?
Yes, and on day one that is a real advantage. The question is what you are buying it for. If the pain is a wrong price, leaving the intake alone costs nothing. If the pain is four people spending the morning reading, sorting, forwarding and chasing, leaving the intake alone leaves the pain alone. Your people work in FreighAI, not in the inbox.
We are air-only. Does FreighAI’s breadth help us?
Breadth across modes may not. Breadth across departments almost certainly does, because an air-only forwarder still runs pricing, operations, tracking and accounts out of separate mailboxes. Answers “where is my cargo?” on the customer’s own thread, from carrier status, for approval. Reads a carrier bill and matches every airway bill back to its job, checking line by line before it is booked.
If Aircon governs the quote, what is left for FreighAI?
Everything either side of it. The enquiry with no chargeable weight. The agent who has not replied for two days. The customer asking where the cargo is, on the thread the quote went out on. The carrier bill three weeks later. Chasing, tracking checks, quote expiry and follow-ups run on their own. Nobody has to remember. A won quote becomes a job on its own, fully filled in.
Common questions
Is Aircon only for air freight?
Its published material is scoped to air freight throughout: quoting for air freight forwarders on the homepage, an air freight quoting, booking and exception management platform page, and a FAQ saying it is built specifically for air freight forwarders. Other modes are not described in Aircon’s published material, checked September 2026.
Does Aircon read our email the way FreighAI does?
It describes intake for quote requests by email, portal or internal request, and says the platform works behind the scenes with your existing intake workflows. Whether that is a connected company mailbox or a routed quote address is not described in Aircon’s published material, checked September 2026. FreighAI is explicit. Watches every company mailbox, pricing, operations, tracking and accounts, and follows each conversation from start to finish.
Does FreighAI enforce margin floors the way Aircon does?
Not in the same form, and this page will not pretend otherwise. Suggests a price from what that customer paid on that lane before, within your margin rules. Every version of a quote is kept, and the line that changed is shown. Aircon publishes something more specific at that moment: margin floors, exclusions, customer tiers and spot triggers set once and applied on every quote, with breaches flagged and overrides logged. If that governance is the purchase, Aircon is the closer answer.
Which one lets the AI answer the customer without a person?
Aircon’s material can be read both ways. It describes itself as a decision support layer where your team still owns commercial decisions, and it also advertises automated 24/7 quoting and workflows that run without human triggers. Ask which you are being sold. FreighAI has no such mode. Your team approves every reply before it sends.
Which one is cheaper?
No pricing page exists on Aircon’s sitemap at the URLs checked on 3 September 2026, so this page makes no claim about what it costs. Ask both suppliers for terms covering the same workflow and volume, with implementation included.
