FreighAI vs Freightmate AI
Both companies sell AI to freight forwarders. Both read the documents that arrive by email. Both put structured data into the system that holds your records.
The decision underneath is narrower, and Freightmate AI is the one that names it. What do you do about the desk that types? They make the typing go away. FreighAI takes over the email that created it. Every email your company receives is read, understood and turned into a task for the right person, with the answer already drafted. Your team approves. Nobody lives in the inbox any more.
Every statement about Freightmate AI here comes from its own published pages, fetched on 3 September 2026 and listed with their dates at the bottom.

- 01Freightmate AI is a document and data-entry product and says so plainly: it ingests your documents, validates the data, and automates core data entry workflows. Three published product lines, shipments, customs entry prep and accounts payable, all ending in a record in the system you already run.
- 02If re-keying is the whole problem, that is a smaller and faster purchase than FreighAI. Their material offers a proof of concept on your real shipments in days.
- 03FreighAI begins one step earlier, at the message, and stops several steps later, at the sent reply and the assigned task. Every company mailbox, not only the attachment on it.
- 04Quoting, chasing an agent for a rate, assigning work to a named person and hand-offs between departments are absent from their published material. Those rows read “not established”, which is not the same as “no”.
- 05One question settles most of it. Once the data is in the system, who writes the answer the customer is still waiting for?
What Freightmate AI does well
Freightmate AI publishes a tightly scoped product and describes it consistently. Documents arrive from email, shared drives and APIs. The data is extracted and structured, related documents are matched to the right shipment or entry, gaps are flagged, and a validated record is created or updated in the system the forwarder already runs. It covers the three jobs a back office hates most, shipment records, customs entry preparation and accounts payable, in one product rather than three. A forwarder whose largest measurable cost is a desk of people copying paperwork into a TMS should look at it seriously.
Their shipments page names more than forty types of shipping document, down to bills of lading, commercial invoices and arrival notices, and their homepage states 99% extraction accuracy. Those are their figures, quoted as published. FreighAI names the forms it reads, PDF through to photos and scans, but publishes no type count. If a count is what procurement asks for, they have one and FreighAI does not.
Their customs page describes pulling line-level detail out of a commercial invoice, then creating an entry record in your system for your team to review. Customs filing and HS or duty lookup stay in your own system with FreighAI, so this sits inside FreighAI’s stated boundary. For a customs-heavy back office it is a genuine advantage.
SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certified, GDPR compliant, and 99.9% uptime across AWS and Google Cloud, all published on their homepage. Specific and checkable. The FreighAI claims register carries no certification, so this page states theirs and answers with nothing. Where a certificate is a procurement gate, that is a real difference today.
Shipments, customs entry preparation and accounts payable are one product with one way of working, and their about page makes a point of it: no more siloed tools for each task. A back office already running three point tools, each with its own login, will feel that in the first week.
The document, or the email it arrived on
Freightmate AI’s published job starts at a document and ends at a record. FreighAI starts at the message and ends at a sent reply and a job somebody owns. They meet in the middle, where structured data has to reach the system that holds your records. Real overlap, and not the same job.
The desk that types, and what made it type
Most forwarders meet this the same way. Volume grows, paperwork grows with it, and two people or an outsourcing contract absorb the copying. Then the question arrives. Do you make that desk faster, or ask why the work reached it in that shape?
Freightmate AI answers the first version directly. Their about page describes the problem as re-keying data from documents into systems, and one of their articles weighs AI-powered operations against a back-office outsourcing contract on turnaround and shift patterns. That is the argument they ask to be judged on.
What Freightmate AI publishes that it does
The same four steps appear on all three of their product pages. Documents are gathered from every source, including email, shared drives and APIs. The data is extracted and structured. Related documents are matched to the right shipment or entry, and gaps are flagged before they delay anything. Then a record is written into the system you keep.
- Shipments: documents read, fields validated, shipment records created or updated in your TMS;
- Customs Entry Prep: entry documents collected, line-level detail pulled from the commercial invoice, an entry record created for review; and
- Accounts Payable: invoices collected, charges and totals extracted, line items matched to charge codes, then pushed into your TMS.
- 01Documents inFrom email, shared drives and APIs.
- 02Data extractedFields structured, invoice lines included.
- 03Matched and checkedTo the right shipment or entry. Gaps flagged.
- 04Record writtenInto your TMS, where you keep it.
That is a clean finish line, and for a back office it is the expensive part of the day. FreighAI treats the same moment as the middle. It pulls your rate cards, checks the carrier, looks up the customer’s history, reads the shipment status, and talks to your TMS or accounting system.
What changes when the email is taken over
Watches every company mailbox, pricing, operations, tracking and accounts, and follows each conversation from start to finish. It works out what each email is and what it needs, then takes the action that message calls for. It writes the reply, creates the task, and puts it in front of the right person in the right department, beside the original conversation. Your team approves. They do not compose, forward, file or chase. The reply goes out in their name. Your people work in FreighAI, not in the inbox.
The difference shows in what else was in that mailbox this morning. A document product reads the attachments. The rest is still a person’s afternoon:
- the enquiry with the weight left out of it;
- the agent’s rate reply, two days late and on a different subject line;
- the customer asking where the cargo is, for the third time;
- the carrier bill that does not agree with what you quoted; and
- the payment chaser nobody has opened yet.
Their described input is the document. Whether the message itself is read and acted on is not described in Freightmate AI’s published material, checked September 2026. Their menu also names a fourth item, Shipment Comms, in one line about shipment communications, but no page describing it was published when the site was checked on 3 September 2026. This page treats it as named and nothing more.
What happens to one enquiry in FreighAI
An enquiry arrives. FreighAI reads it, notices the weight is missing and asks for it. It pulls your rate cards, checks the carrier for a live rate, and emails your agents for the lanes you do not hold, then chases them until they reply. It drafts the quote with your margin rules and what that customer paid on that lane last time. Your pricer approves and it goes. It follows up. When the customer pushes back, the counter-offer is already drafted. When the quote is old, it expires. When it is won, the job is created.
Where the rate can be fetched without waiting on a person — a carrier API, a portal read in the background, or your own uploaded rate cards — a priced quote goes out in 10–15 minutes instead of 1–2 hours. That holds for ocean and air just as it does for express; the mode does not change it. Where a lane has to be priced by another agent or over the phone, the wait belongs to whoever is answering — not to the software. FreighAI still writes the RFQ, chases the reply, and turns whatever comes back into a priced, margin-checked quote the moment it lands.
None of that sequence is document extraction. It is the half of the day that begins once the record is already correct.

“Not established” means the material reviewed on 3 September 2026 did not give enough evidence for a fair yes or no. It is not a claim that Freightmate AI lacks the capability, and several of these rows would move on one answer in a demonstration. Close the ones that affect your decision there, not here.
A clean record, or a finished task with a name on it
Freightmate AI’s published workflows end when validated data reaches your TMS. Somebody still has to open it and answer the person waiting. FreighAI carries that part. The reply is written, the task is created, and one named person approves it beside the original conversation.
- Read in whatever form it arrivesReads PDF, Excel, Word, forwarded email, WhatsApp messages, photos and scans.
- Sorted by what it needsWorks out what each email is and what it needs, then takes the action that message calls for.
- Approved, not composedYour team approves. They do not compose, forward, file or chase. The reply goes out in their name.
Which one you should actually pick
If nobody should ever choose the other product, this page would not be worth reading. Here is where each genuinely wins.
- your problem has a number on it and the number is re-keying: a desk, a contract or hours you can point at;
- document breadth is the specification, and you have the awkward layouts to test their published figure against;
- customs entry preparation is the bottleneck, and line-level detail lifted into an entry record for your team to review is exactly the job;
- an audited security posture is a procurement gate, and FreighAI answers their published certifications with none of its own; or
- you buy in small, testable pieces, and a proof of concept on your own shipments in days is what your board will approve
- the typing is a symptom. The pile exists because nobody kept up with the mail that brought it, and typing faster leaves the mailbox where it was;
- the expensive hour is not the data entry but everything around it: finding the rate, chasing the agent, writing the answer, remembering to chase;
- the work has to keep moving between pricing, operations and accounts without anyone forwarding it;
- you are buying back the whole inbox, pricing through accounts, rather than one document workflow inside it; or
- you want one platform carrying the quote, the booking, the tracking reply and the carrier bill. Keep your TMS for the records. FreighAI runs the work around them.
FreighAI’s central proposition is: Same team. 5x more business. That is the intended value position, not a measured result. Decide it on demonstrated fit against your own documents and your own mailbox.
Can you run both?
More easily than with most pairs, because the two draw their line in different places. Freightmate AI’s published strength is depth on the document: how many layouts it reads, how far into an invoice it goes, how reliably the record lands. FreighAI’s is width across the company: every mailbox, the work behind each message, and a named person holding the finished piece.
It is not free of friction. Both read attachments and both write into the same records, so running them on one shipment without deciding who owns the write produces two versions of one truth. Settle that first: which product is the source of the record, which holds the conversation, and what happens when they disagree about a field. FreighAI is an AI-first freight operations platform that can run standalone or work alongside an existing TMS or ERP. It does not require a forced replacement. We scope the first workflow, integration requirements and implementation plan with your team.

Where the shipment, the entry and the invoice are kept. Both write into it. Neither replaces it.
What stays in your own system
FreighAI does not do everything, and two of the places it stops are places Freightmate AI is strong. Side by side, so nobody finds out in week three.
| The work | Where it stays | What FreighAI adds around it | Freightmate AI’s published material |
|---|---|---|---|

Read the first row twice. Filing stays in your own system with both. What Freightmate AI adds is the entry prepared up to the point of filing, inside FreighAI’s boundary and a straight point to them.
The four things forwarders say back to us
“We already outsource this, and it is cheap.”
Then Freightmate AI is arguing with your contract and FreighAI is arguing with something else. Their case against an outsourcing desk is turnaround and shift patterns, and it is reasonable. Ours is a count: how many of last week’s late replies were late because nobody typed, and how many because nobody got to the mail at all.
“Is this not just better document reading?”
Document reading is one mechanism inside FreighAI, not the product. It reads PDF, Excel, Word, forwarded email, WhatsApp messages, photos and scans. What follows is the point. It pulls your rate cards, checks the carrier, looks up the customer’s history, reads the shipment status, and talks to your TMS or accounting system. If you only need the reading, buy the reading.
“Our team will not trust an AI reply to a customer.”
They do not have to. Your team approves. They do not compose, forward, file or chase. The reply goes out in their name. Nothing sends without a person, in any mode.
“We would rather buy one thing at a time.”
A good instinct, and both suppliers can meet it. Theirs is a published proof of concept on your real shipments in days. Ours is a scoped first workflow. We scope the first workflow, integration requirements and implementation plan with your team. Pick the mailbox that hurts most and judge on that, not on a feature list.
What should you put in front of both suppliers?
A demonstration on a supplier’s own sample documents proves their samples work. Take one real shipment instead, and take all of it:
- the documents that arrived for it, including the scanned page somebody photographed;
- the thread they arrived on, with the questions nobody had time to answer;
- the enquiry that started it, with a detail missing from it;
- the carrier bill at the end that did not agree with the quote; and
- the moment it changed hands, pricing to operations or operations to accounts.
Then ask both the same closing question. When the demonstration ends, what is left in the mailbox? A validated record in your TMS is a real result, worth paying for. A mailbox with nothing waiting in it is a different result and a different purchase. FreighAI talks to carriers, portals, your TMS and your accounting system itself. Nobody hops between websites to put an answer together.
Common questions
Is Freightmate AI an alternative to FreighAI?
Partly, and the overlap is real. Their three published products all begin at a document and end at a record in your system. Quoting, task assignment, hand-offs between departments and replying on the customer’s thread are absent from that material. A genuine choice for a data-entry problem, a partial one for an inbox problem.
Does Freightmate AI read our email the way FreighAI does?
Their published wording is that documents are collected from all sources, including email. The input they describe is the document, not the message. Whether the message itself is read and acted on is not described in Freightmate AI’s published material, checked September 2026. Forward them a thread whose only attachment is a signature image and see what happens.
Can Freightmate AI quote for us?
Quoting is not among their three published products. Pricing an enquiry, chasing an agent for a rate and drafting a counter-offer are not described in Freightmate AI’s published material, checked September 2026. If quoting is what you are buying, that is FreighAI’s ground.
What is Shipment Comms?
Their top menu names it, in one line, as shipment communications on autopilot. No page describing it was published when the site was checked on 3 September 2026, and it appears in neither their sitemap nor their footer. This page treats it as named and nothing more. Put the question to them directly.
Do we have to drop our TMS for either of them?
No. Every Freightmate AI workflow writes into the system you already run. Keep your TMS for the records. FreighAI runs the work around them. FreighAI is an AI-first freight operations platform that can run standalone or work alongside an existing TMS or ERP. It does not require a forced replacement.

Freightmate AI publishes no pricing, integrations or security page in the sitemap checked on 3 September 2026, and states neither a headquarters nor a founding year, so no price, connector list, head office, founding date or funding figure appears here. Their customer testimonial and logo wall are not repeated: Infinity Logistics is the only customer this site names. Their performance figures are quoted as their own claims, never as FreighAI numbers.
Bring the pile, and the mailbox it came from
Pick one shipment from last week. Carry the documents that arrived for it and the conversation they arrived on, including the parts nobody got to. Ask Freightmate AI to type it. Ask FreighAI to finish it. Then count what is still unanswered when each demonstration ends.
